STREETS OF VILNIUS / VILNIAUS GATVĖS

Narrow, winding and sometimes mysterious - they are the streets and alleys of Vilnius Old Town, one of the largest surviving medieval old towns in Northern Europe. It's a place where different architectural styles, such as Gothic, Baroque and Classical, stand side by side and complement each other.
Artist and architect Dalius Regelskis is a true "Vilnius-er" and, as he usually likes to introduce himself, "was born and grew up on Architects' Street". He not only knows every street and corner of his hometown, but also can tell a lot of interesting stories about its multi-layered history.
"As I remember from high-school days, I always liked to draw Vilnius Old Town. I used to love to walk here for hours and hours checking every backstreet and courtyard. I think that it was the main reason I decided to enter Vilnius Academy of Arts and study architecture", Dalius recalls.
These large-format drawings of the Old Town streets were made using black and brown inks, watercolors, and wax crayons. Dalius enjoys to experiment trying different tools. This time, for drawing with ink, he decided to use simple bamboo chopsticks from a sushi restaurant. You can see how the creative process was going by visiting Instagram account @DaliusArt
